The BLIA Ipoh (Fo Gong San Menglembu – a Buddhist association) held a weekend excursion on 27 May 2012 and part of their itinerary included a birdwatching module at KNP. Four MNS bird group members (Chan Kai Soon, Susan Cheong, Chong Lap Weng and Josephine Tan) were there to help them. The entourage included more than 20 little children all below ten years old, some parents, teachers and a monk. They reached the visitor centre at 9.00 am and were split into two groups. The children as well as
adults took turns to look through two scopes set up for them. Simple facts on the birds seen were explained to the children and at 10.15 am a brief quiz was conducted to gauge the level of knowledge learnt. The children had no problem answering the three questions posed to them. Three bird pictures donated by Chan were presented to the winners. The monk on behalf of the group presented each MNS volunteer a small gift as a gesture of appreciation. Following the group photo, the entourage continued their journey of learning to the Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge.
